The exploitation of flaws to do with speculative execution in modern processors is a fascinating story and the technical details are very interesting but, well, highly technical.

Raspberry Pi founder Eben Upton did a really nice job of explaining it in a non-technical (or at least highly simplified way) and its worth a read if you are curious to learn what all the fuss is about:
